SLAUGHTER DAY (1991) Blu-Ray Visual Vengeance

It’s trash movie time this evening and Slaughter Day is perfect for the occasion. A blood soaked wacky, shoddy looking grimy and messy piece of shot on video excellence. The cast is limited and yes the dialogue is absolutely atrocious. Good I’m glad it is, this is what I want and need a trashy piece of independent horror not some artful snooty Hollywood borefest that is up it’s own arse.

The transfer is awful due to the film’s source material. I’m sure Wild Eye/ Visual Vengeance did the best they could for this Blu-Ray. If you’re up for mindless violence and a plot as paper thin as tracing paper you are in for a treat. The story is basic and revolves around construction workers who piss off one of their unhinged employees. He has risen and with the power of the Necronomicon will unleash an ancient evil onto our two numbskull heroes.

The special effects are seriously impressive at times given the movie’s budget. Watching the villain bend like a contortionist and get sucked into the Necronomicon is a sight to behold. If you want low budget fun and nonsense set in Hawaii then Slaughter Day is what your television needs.
