Horror in the high Desert creeps back onto the small screen with it’s fourth entry. Since viewing the first instalment of this creepy, dread inducing found footage Mockumentary franchise. I have been hooked to see how events play out. A great deal has been uncovered since Gary Hinge’s story from part 1.
Majesty is a complete return to form as I thought part 3 was a weaker entry when compared to films 1 & 2. Picking up on the desert’s ever growing mystery, we are treated to new scares, revelations and old school camera footage. If you’re looking for an abundance of answers and a conclusion then you won’t find that with part 4. What you get is more unsettling canon and questions in what I think is a fitting bridge which will lead to some conclusive answers. As part 5 is already planned and in pre-production.
There’s some excellently crafted sequences in the style fans have loved since Dutch Marich began this found footage saga. We follow a new character through unearthed old footage. Documenting strange events on the ranch where he lives. The formula is similar to previous chapters and builds on mythology and origins of the stumbling zombie-like people who roam the vast desert wilderness. Oh and the creepy distant sounds and music are back adding to the dread. Our camera man has captured some strange evidence that something very odd is occurring right in his back yard.
The climax leaves more questions than answers and serves up some subtly horrifying imagery. Would we have it any other way? No! I want as many entries as possible because a series like Horror In The High Desert is breathing new life into the once stagnant & saturated found footage sub-genre. It’s that good! It could rival any legitimate factual documentary.
