Shudder brings another Hell House movie and it is one frightening, anxiety inducing ride.
First off this is the best instalment since the first Hell House LLC. At a glance it looks as if this one is going to be a stand alone story linked only by name. That’s until those creepy, flesh crawling, miserable looking clowns appear. New revelations are discovered about the Abaddon hotel linking and connecting directly to this film’s location, the Carmichael manor.
This is a found footage mockumentary and is executed superbly. I think this style of filmmaking is more compelling than real true crime documentaries. I don’t scare easily but will happily admit, this one got me going. I haven’t talked at characters on screen for a long time. Watching this had me animatedly doing just that. At certain points this literally gave me shivers which I welcomed and am grateful for.
This franchise thanks to this movie especially is building layer upon layer of intricately woven story. Resulting in me salivating at the thought of another instalment. Hopefully next October we will be entertained with another. Hell House I have missed you!
