Nowadays video game remasters are quite common place. Having recently purchased the remaster of 2001’s The Thing game for the PS5. I feel like I should share a special list of games I would love to see receive a new lease on life.

5. Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex (2001)
Remastered for all available consoles
Originally available for PS2 way back in 2001. I have fond memories of this Crash sequel. Whilst not officially the fourth instalment. It is chronologically the fourth Crash game to be released into the cannon. It would be a privilege to witness this platformer receive an upgrade. Following in the footsteps of PS4’s N.Sane trilogy.
4. Luigi’s Mansion (2001)
Remastered for Nintendo Switch 2
The hours of fun I had with this one in 2002 on the GameCube is irreplaceable. Set in the spooky side of the Super Mario universe. You play as a timid ghost-hunting Luigi, equipped with a vacuum for sucking up the ghouls and a knack for puzzle solving. I think seeing this original classic upgraded for Nintendo’s latest console, would be a banner release. Imagine updated HD graphics and the option to play on the switch’s handheld screen.

3. Gears Of War (any game)
Remastered for all available consoles
I’ll keep it brief! Gears is the upper echelon of third person shooters. It has a sick world and an assortment of beasts to destroy. We’ve just managed to get our hands on a reworking of the Xbox 360’s original game. Now let’s have them all remastered and available across platforms.
2. South Park (1998)
Remastered for all available consoles
I use to play this dodgy looking South Park FPS around my friends as a kid on his N64. Good times and it was during the height of South Park’s mainstream popularity. Take into account its an awful shooting game. However it’s bundled with so much enjoyable tack and crazy antics that I can’t help but lust for a nostalgic remaster. Pick a character and blast your way through Turkeys, Clones and aliens. There’s also the annoying score which I need to hear blasting through my 4K tv speakers. Screw you guys, we need it now.

1. Super Mario Sunshine (2002)
Remastered for Nintendo Switch 1 & 2
Mario Sunshine was a beautifully crafted GameCube game. Me & my family had a joyous time on Christmas Day 2002 playing this sunny entry from the Super Mario franchise. Imagine, Hoovering around in glorious HD and collecting sunshines. Seeing this ported onto a handheld would be interesting and give old school Mario fans an unforgettable journey into one of Nintendo’s finest worlds ever made.
There you have it a handful of games I would love to see receive a facelift for this generation’s consoles.
