The Blob (modern day reboot)
A modern day rendition of the Blob could be a special effects filled feast for the eyes. Using practical and CGI effects fused together. Can you imagine the mutations and gooey gore? The Last Blob movie was released in 1988. That movie was a remake of the 1958 sci-fi horror classic which starred Steve McQueen. At present body horror is having somewhat of a resurgence. With trailblazers like The Substance (2024) and Possessor (2020). The Blob rebooted with that right director and cast could be a squelchy body horror masterpiece. Either a remake or a new story involving The Blob would be welcomed and highly anticipated.
A Nightmare on Elm Street (reboot/legacy sequel)
Sometimes if feel that the 2010 Elm Street remake takes an abundance of harsh criticism. Some of the criticism and hate towards the remake is warranted yet some I feel is unwarranted. Remaking one of the most iconic and influential horror genre offerings is no easy task. The 2010 remake had a huge task replicating Wes Craven’s original idea. Then repackaging it for a modern audience was never going to be an easy endeavor. Actor Jackie Earle Haley had humongous shoes to fill. Haley did do an interesting job. Bringing a new vision of Robert Englund’s Freddy Krueger character to the table. No fun, less puns and a creepier, more perverted Krueger completely stole the show in this remake. This being the other characters were quite flat and uninteresting. Haley’s new Freddy was the only high point of the 2010 remake. Everything else fell flat and the whole movie just felt like a lesser, modernised and glossier replica designed to cash in off of the Elm St name.
We haven’t had a Freddy Krueger movie for 15 years and I think soon enough will be ideal for the finger blade wielding maniac to hit the big screen again. With the right team a new sequel would recapture fans attention and create new one in the process. Ideally Robert Englund would don the glove for one last hellacious ride.
