The time is here, Freddy Krueger makes his presence to the 4K format. I managed to acquire the limited edition early in what is a glorious set. Now sold out this UK edition comes with both cuts of the film on 4k and Blu-ray including the unrated cut. I won’t be going over the narrative too much as most people have a clue as to what A Nightmare On Elm Street is.
The 4K transfer
I settled down to watch the unrated cut on 4K. I used my PlayStation 5 to view the movie. I’ll keep it brief. The transfer is very good and a worthwhile upgrade this being the film’s best presentation visually. The daylight scenes are stunning and the bright colours do pop. The nighttime darker scenes also look very sharp and crisp With some grain still intact so overall the transfer does have a natural look to it.
The edition
Equipped with a surprising amount of extras. Some ported over from previous releases. This a studio physical media release from Warner Bros therefore I wasn’t expecting an abundance but there’s enough. The outer hard box is gorgeous although the artwork could have been a little better. The vintage Warner home video logo was aesthetically pleasing. The steelbook inside holds both disks and feature the theatrical artwork. The set also includes a photo booklet and double sided poster with art cards and includes a numbered authenticity certificate.
Overall a fantastic release from Warner Bros of this highly anticipated 4K edition for Wes Cravens horror classic.
