Wes Craven’s 1984 hit slasher film A Nightmare on Elm Street has been declassified from a certificate 18 to a certificate 15 by the British Board of Film Classification. The movie has its violent moments however compared to violence depicted in modern films which is far more graphic. Nightmare on Elm Street is rather tame. The new classification has been more than likely been reassessed due to the 4K release of Wes Craven’s game changing horror classic.
