When a London mob boss trying to go legit becomes the target of organised attacks to his empire, he then has to scrap his way through and identify who is out to dismantle his empire into a pile of broken rubble. Bob Hoskins plays Harold and is a joy to watch. There’s so many great lines including the raspberry ripple one.
Arrow’s new 4K edition, complete with a fantastic artist’s interpretation of Harold on the slipcover and slip, is undeniably the film’s best release to date. There’s a booklet and poster in the amaray case. The 4K looks lovely. It’s not a transfer that will blow you sky high. Still it looks lovely and defines many of the film’s details. It isn’t an overly polished 4K transfer like for example James Cameron’s new 4K releases of Aliens and The Abyss. The transfer has kept it’s natural look and you can see the grittiness. This is a step up from Arrow’s Blu-Ray but perhaps not the biggest leap you are going to notice in the 4K format.
