5 More Hidden Horrors from the Found Footage Vault

Let’s dive deep into the found footage vault once again. I have been endlessly searching streaming platforms such as Amazon Prime and Tubi to see what treasures I can unearth.

5. Dagr (2024)

This one isn’t perfect and does have some irritating moments still it does have some elements a found footage junkie can appreciate. Here we have two female social media influencers who do pranks, heists and other silly nonsense. They are preparing for their next daft heist by posing as caterers for a upper class mansion photo shoot. When they arrive at the destination, the fun and laughter soon stops when they realise an ancient evil has been unleashed. Death will soon follow…

4. Be My Cat: A film for Anne (2015)

Wanna see a bat shit crazy man make a cinematic love letter to his one love, actress Anne Hathaway? If so this one’s got you covered. Adrian is as mad as a box of chocolate hopping frogs. The actresses he keeps auditioning for his independent film keep vanishing. Witness the one man nightmare circus. The commitment to the role from director Adrian Tofei is remarkable. See him crack and become absorbed in his own twisted delusions at your own risk.

3. Milk & Serial (2024)

At 62 minutes things move quickly and for what it’s worth, this free found footage film isn’t half bad. It follows two pranksters and their antics. Then in the wake of one particular prank things go horribly wrong.

2. Followed (2018)

Drop The Mike and his crew of ghost hunters are going to spend several nights in a supposedly haunted hotel. Things get weird and the fun and games are soon over. It’s typical fare but does have some fun moments and doesn’t take itself too seriously.

Where to watch: Available to rent or purchase on digital platforms

1. The Ceremony Is About To Begin (2024)

For me, this is the find of the week. Some will hate it however I really enjoyed this film’s style, story and direction. Oooh this has layers. A man d codes to make a documentary in the wake of his upcoming divorce. One of his old flames vanished after joining a spiritual retreat. When he arrives at the isolated location he meets Anubis who is leader Osiris’s right hand man. Everyone bar Anubis has seemingly vanished. What follows is a strange series of interviews and encounters with Anubis who keeps dodging the facts and serious questions. The cult is also inspired by ancient Egyptians and the final act is pure carnage.
